As we mentioned at the beginning of this tutorial, you can test your Amazon Redshift connection using a compatible SQL client. This step is optional, as the Private Data Warehouse (PDW) will check and monitor the connection for any potential issues.
After entering your Redshift database info and credentials (see next section) into PDW, you’ll be able to view the status of your Redshift connection on the Connection Details page (Manage Data > Integrations):
If you'd like to perform a connection test, use this section of the Amazon Redshift Getting Started guide to use a SQL client to connect to your cluster and run a test query. Should any problems arise, check out the troubleshooting guide to resolve them.
If the connection is successful, that’s it! The last step in the process is connecting PDW to your newly created Redshift instance.
